Process analysis
A feature to visualize which statuses took a long time

You can now use apps with process management to calculate the total time that records have remained in statuses based on their history, and check the results on a chart. This helps you identify which processes in your work took the most time, so that you can find and resolve bottlenecks in your workflow.
You can specify the perspective and duration of the analysis to meet your needs. We will continue to enhance the features for analyzing business processes.

▼Users can now check the time spent on each status on the "Process Analysis" screen
The Analysis screen of the process for an app used to manage customer inquiries. A bar chart shows the total time spent and the number of history entries for each status. The "Analysis Settings" button and the bar for the "Assigned" status, which took the longest time, are outlined in orange. Lines connect these items to callouts with the following descriptions: From "Analysis Settings", you can select the field to use as the classification axis, specify conditions to filter records, specify the period for which history entries are targeted, and select the method of aggregation. Since the time spent for the "Assigned" status is the longest, it is likely that reducing the time spent for this status will improve work efficiency.
▼How to Use This Feature
The "..." menu on the View screen. The menu icon and the "Analyze Processes" menu item are outlined in orange
You can open the "Process analysis" screen by clicking "Analyze process" in the "Options" menu on the "View" screen.

Process management
You can set "Explanation for Workers" for each status.

You can now configure "Instructions for Assignees" on each status in process management. Assignees can check what they need to do at each status. For example, in an app for request management, you can add instructions on what to check and what actions to take next on the "Waiting for Approver" status.

■Example of use

▼How to configure (Process Management settings screen)
The Process Management settings screen showing the status "Description for Assignees" setting dialog opened by clicking "Settings" for the description for assignees
You can enter any text you like in the settings dialog, which can be opened by clicking "Instructions for Assignees".
▼How to check ("Record Details" screen)
On the "Record Details" screen, clicking the "View instructions" button to display a pop-up with instructions for assignees
Workers can view the description by clicking the View instructions button. This button is only displayed for statuses where a description has been set.
Using Name Configuration for Each Language, you can configure the name to be displayed in accordance with the language setting of the logged-in user.

REST API
Enabling the Global Search API for kintone

A new REST API that enables you to search across multiple locations in kintone is now available.
This API allows you to search multiple locations simultaneously and get all the results in a single response. You can search for app records, record comments, space threads, and contents of attachments.

REST API for Enabling Global Search:
API for searching across kintone[POST]/k/v1/search.json

Also, if necessary, you can specify to narrow down the search range to a particular app or space, or to include related terms (e.g., different spellings or synonyms) in the search.
For example, when using generative AI to refer to kintone data, you can first perform a broad keyword search and then narrow down the range based on the results.

For details, refer to the kintone developer program.

AI features
The kintone MCP server has been enhanced with a tool for searching the entire kintone.

We have started providing a tool that uses the Global Search API on kintone MCP Server. This tool enables you to retrieve a wide range of business data stored in kintone even if you do not know the details of the app or space where the data is stored. All you have to do is give the AI a few keywords related to the data you want to find.

Example of a command to the AI:

  • 📋 AI summarizes past customer interactions — Example: "Summarize the past interactions with Company A"
  • 🔍 AI suggests similar past deals — Example: "Please suggest any past deals that are similar to this one."
  • 📝 AI searches for discussions on threads that include specific agenda items — Example: "Find a thread where a price revision was discussed"
  • 📎 AI can check the contents of attachments — For example, "Please check if the contract template includes a confidentiality clause"
* To use this feature, you need to update the kintone MCP server to the latest version.
Note: You can download the kintone MCP server and find update information on the Releases page for mcp-server.

New features under consideration

Here are the features we're currently considering.
You can try them out by enabling them on the Update options screen in kintone administration.

JavaScript API (App)To Identify Table Field Rows by ID
JavaScript API (App)Users can create a "Customization Column" to display buttons on rows in a "Table" field
JavaScript API (App)It is now possible to change and retrieve styles for cells that make up a table field.

* Note that features under consideration may have their specifications changed, or be added to or removed from the "Update options" screen, at any time — not only during regular maintenance.

JavaScript API (App)
To Identify Table Field Rows by ID

IDs are also assigned to new rows added on the "Add Record" or "Edit Record" screen. This allows all rows in a table field to be identified by their IDs. The IDs of added rows can be obtained from the API for getting record values or from the "record" property of an event object (Note 1).
Following this change, the behavior of the JavaScript API for handling table fields will be updated in the following two ways.

① Reflecting separately: Adding/deleting/moving rows and updating values
You can specify rows by ID when using the API to set values in records or when using the return statement in event objects (Note 1) to update tables, just as you can with the REST API. This allows you to specify whether you want to perform an operation on a row itself (e.g., deleting a specific row, adding a row at the beginning, or rearranging rows) or update the value of a field in a specific row.
② Organize the trigger conditions for the "Event to change field value" based on ①
The table field events will be triggered even when rows are added, deleted, or rearranged by the JavaScript API. The events for the fields inside a table are triggered only when the value of the field is changed.
*1 The following events on the specified object are supported: When the record add/edit screen is displayed, When a field value is changed, and When a record is saved.
* To use this feature, you need to enable the "JavaScript API: Adding IDs to Table Rows, Triggering Events on Table Actions, and New APIs for Table Actions" option in the API Lab section of the Update Program.
* This feature is scheduled to be moved to "Early Access for Upcoming Features" in the December 2023 update.
For details, refer to the kintone developer program.

JavaScript API (App)
Users can create a "Customization Column" to display buttons on rows in a "Table" field

A JavaScript API for creating a "Customize Column" in a table field is added. A Customize Column lets you place buttons in a table field by specifying rows. Because each row is identified by its ID, you can perform actions inside the table based on the contents of each row.
▼ Example of buttons displayed on rows based on the order status (This is a screen under development)
A "Place Order" button or "Ordered" button is added as a Customization field in the table field based on the order status of each row. The Customization field is outlined in orange.
Create a Customization Column in a "Table" Field:
Creating a Customization Column (PC)kintone.app.record.createCustomTableColumn()
Creating a Customization Column (Mobile)kintone.mobile.app.record.createCustomTableColumn()
* You can use this feature on the "Add Record", "Edit Record", and "Record Details" screens as well as on the Print screen in the desktop view. This feature will be provided in API Lab by the November 2023 update.

It is now possible to change and retrieve styles for cells that make up a table field.

Taking advantage of the fact that rows can be identified by their IDs, new JavaScript APIs will be provided to set and get styles (background color, font color, bold, etc.) for header and body cells of a table field. Using these APIs, you can highlight rows that need attention based on their contents.
▼ Example of color-coding unplaced order rows to make them stand out (This is a screen in development)
An example of changing the background color and making the text bold red for rows in a "Table" field where the order status is "Not Ordered" to make them stand out
Setting and Getting the Style of a Table Field:
Setting the Style of Table Fields (PC)kintone.app.record.setTableFieldStyle()
Getting the Style of a Table Field (Desktop)kintone.app.record.getTableFieldStyle()
Setting the Style of Table Fields (Mobile)kintone.mobile.app.record.setTableFieldStyle()
Getting the Style of a Table Field (Mobile)kintone.mobile.app.record.getTableFieldStyle()
* You can use this feature on the "Add Record", "Edit Record", and "Record Details" screens as well as on the Print screen in the desktop view. This feature will be provided in API Lab by the November 2023 update.
